Besides the at-times unbearable heat, summer is really quite an enjoyable time. The days are longer (sun sets around 9pm), and I believe that the extra sunshine we get makes us more cheerful. And gives us more vitamin D too!

Blueberry season! Me, Dewi and Celine went to Prelock Bluberry Farm to pluck blueberries!

Celine helping herself to some fresh blueberries! We can eat as much as we want at the farm for no charge. But those that we bring home cost $1.89 per pound. (Still very cheap compared to those sold in supermarkets. And very much sweeter too!) We were given buckets to hold our pickings. I managed to pluck about four pounds (ok, I confess, I was busy eating!), and Dewi almost filled her bucket, bringing home nearly ten pounds worth of blueberries!

Really tall sunflowers! (Yes, taller than Shisheng!) We found these friendly giants at the veggie garden near our house. They are supposed to be very easy to grow. Maybe we can try growing them next year. :P

Bittergourds growing above us as we walked through a wooden sheltered walkway. Actually it is sheltered because the leaves are so abundant they gave us shade. They are grown by a Chinese couple to sell to the residents here. We bought some Chinese celery (for the piggies) and Chye Sim (for us) from them. Fresh and organic and cheap!
