Three little pigs

The babies are three days old now! They are quite easy to tell apart. One of them has panda eyes, the other has panda eyes and a black bum, and the last one has a black head and a black bum. Shisheng thinks that the black-headed-piggie is being ostracised, because it is always moving around on its own, while the other two seem more "gum". I think maybe one is a boy and the other two are girls (or vice versa).

And no, we don't know if they are boys or girls yet. We tried, ok. But we have yet to learn the science of sexing a guinea pig yet. Guess we will have to wait for Dr Becker to enlighten us.

Mummy doesn't seem very comfortable with nursing the babies. When the babies want to drink milk, she tries to run away from them. In fact, the only time the babies manage to get their drink is when Mummy is eating something (and hence has to stay put). Hopefully mummy will get the hang of things over the next few days. If not, we may have to resort to making a pellet mush using the Cavy Critical Care powder. That was what one GP owner did when her Mummy GP gave birth to nine(!) babies and could not manage to nurse all of them.

Otherwise, things are looking good. Mummy has regained her previous slim figure and the babies are very much active and healthy. And they are still relatively quiet. (Not like the loud wheekers Huggies and Niblet) We hope that their "volume" will not grow proportionately to their size.
