The previous owner of these GPs was a lady who had over 70 GPs in her house! She actually started rearing a few, thinking they were all the same sex. And when some of them got pregnant, she tried to separate the boy piggies from the girl piggies. Unfortunately, she couldn't tell the boys from the girls as well as she thought she could, and after 8 months of breeding, she ended up with 70 piggies.
And that was when she finally realised she needed help and called the animal rescue. Apparently, she did not have enough cages, and there was a lot of overcrowding and unsanitary conditions for the GPs. And there were others that were actually running around in the house, without a cage.

We brought these two back on a Sunday afternoon. As soon as we propped their cage out of our car, it started snowing! Hence, we decided to call the white piggy Snowie. (Ok, very unimaginative, but I am running out of names for piggies. Any suggestions? ). The brown one still doesn't have a name yet, but we will just call her BooBoo in the meantime. (Like a Jane Doe for piggies)
Snowy is pregnant, and has a bad right eye. We are not sure if she can see through that eye, but she is behaving normally. I guess GPs don't really depend on their eyes as much as they use their nose. She is the more vocal of the two, and starting to become a bit of a bully to BooBoo!
BooBoo actually gave birth to a baby just recently, but her baby didn't survive. The poor mummy is quite traumatised. She hides most of the time, and every little noise scares her.
We hope we will get to see Snowie's babies before we fly back to SG. Dr Becker has kindly agreed to help us babysit Kopi and Maisy while we are away. Those two better behave themselves!
Oh, and Maisy has mastered the art of biting the cage (violently) to demand for food. She learnt that from Kopi. Now she does it everytime I open the fridge. Grrr...
