Homemade, handmade

During our BBQ last week, we had this really rich and creamy green tea ice cream made by Wendy and Wing Fai. Someone even came up with a name for it: WWF green tea ice cream. Although we were told the number of egg yolks that went into the ice cream (eight), it was so good that we decided it was worth clogging our arteries just for this treat.

And when we received the recipe, SS realised that I actually have the book where the recipe came from. "Harumi's Japanese Home Cooking", passed to me from my sister.

SS did most of the work, since I was busy preparing dinner. When it came to the part when we had to leave the ice cream mixture in the freezer, and then stir it once ice crystals form (we did that hourly), I did my part my licking the wooden spatula.

Stirring at t = 2h. The ice cream was ready after freezing for about 4h, but we wanted it to be more solid, so we left it overnight.

Right now, the texture is like Mr Softee. We miss Mr Softee....

Here's my bowl in action!
The next day, SS asked how his ice cream was first thing in the morning. We checked, and it was ready to eat. We scooped out a couple of scoops into my newly made bowl, and topped it with some red bean paste... Yummy!
