I count myself lucky that I got all my important paper work done this week without too many hiccups.
Basic Theory Test -- Passed!
Visa -- Obtained
Driver's license -- Converted
My only grouse is that I didn't have a very pleasant time at SSDC when I went to convert my license. The waiting time was unacceptable, and they were severely understaffed. Only two counters were in operation. So it was no surprise that I got served by a grouchy woman behind the counter. She seemed more interested in finding fault with my application than processing my license for me. Other applicants were also blamed for:
1. Coming on a Saturday (their peak period) instead of a weekday, thus increasing their workload on a Saturday.
2. Not getting an application form to fill up before their number was called. The problem was, there was no obvious sign that we had to pick up an application form anywhere.
3. Someone got scolded for helping his friend to get an extra application form from the counter staff.
I went at about 11am, and my queue number was 180. They were serving number 27. If not for the fact that a kind soul gave me her queue number of 43 (which got called at 1.30pm), I think I would be there the whole day.
So if anyone ever wants to convert their license at SSDC, I strongly suggest that they go on a weekday, even if it means taking half a day off from work. The staff will probably be friendlier and the lines shorter.

I had a similar experience applying for my licence at BBDC. We actually took a queue number then went for lunch :)
