The Feast of the Hunter's Moon [2]

One of my favourite shows at the Feast: A sheepdog in action!

This is Rerun, a Border Collie. "Border" because she originated from the border of England and Scotland. I think everyone watching the show fell in love with her, coz she was so well behaved, not to mention extremely intelligent, following her owner's commands to a T.

In fact, Border Collies are commonly regarded as the "most intelligent dog breed"

The sheep, on the other hand, were nonchalantly chewing on the grass from the start to the end of the show... They must be really hungry...

The wool that is obtained from the sheep is then spun into yarn, using a spinning wheel...

The lady steps on the pedal, which spins the wheel and consolidates the furry wool from the sheep into a string of yarn...

... and the yarn is then dyed into many different colours and hung out to dry... They have a nice rustic look and feel... I love the range of colours they come in!

The Field Doctor was another interesting stop:

The gadgets seen here are the tools that he used for surgery. Besides the usual tweezers and scapels, there were some tools for drilling holes in the skull, and some for pulling out teeth... He described each tool with great detail, and made no effort to leave out the gruesome parts...

He even had a dish to place the teeth that he extracted... yucks!

He showed us a chart for blood letting too... Interestingly, he said that there are similarities between the acupuncture chart and his blood letting chart... I am a little skeptical about this though... (XT, maybe when you learn acupuncture, you can enlighten us on this? :P)

Blood-letting is one ancient healing method--people in d past believed tt by letting out(pierce a part of d skin) d "bad blood", d illness will also lessen/recover. Acupuncture is also another ancient healing method invented by Chinese and used till now. I haven't actually studied our acupuncture module yet(it's in 3rd yr I tink) but I do noe tt present day acupuncture doesn't let blood flow out of the body though d needles do pierce into d skin. Will share more when I noe!
Btw, d interesting blood-letting pic u took is much more simplified than chinese acupuncture charts! But I do believe in wat d doc says--at least a few points will be d same cos d human body is only tt big.

Yeah, the yarns are really nice! Unfortunately, I didn't buy any, coz I didn't know what to knit at that time...

Thanks XT for the explanation! :)

Actually my impression of blood letting (aka phlebotomy) is not just piercing the skin, but actually withdrawing the blood in significant amounts... a bit like donating blood, except that they discard the blood... it has never been proven to be effective in anything, except maybe high blood pressure... which makes sense... but there is really no need for such drastic measures for high BP nowadays...
