Thanksgiving at the International Center

Every Tuesday morning, I attend the "Coffee and Conversation" session at the International Center. It is a place for new residents like me to meet up and learn more about the American way of life, as well as to make new friends from all over the world.

This Tuesday, we celebrated Thanksgiving.

A little about Thanksgiving:
Thanksgiving is a very big deal here. It is a holiday on the fourth Thursday of November, to celebrate the end of the harvest. Families gather on Thanksgiving to have a big sumptious dinner, and most of the shops are closed. I guess it feels something like our Chinese New Year.

And what is Thanksgiving without turkeys?

Mr and Mrs Turkey, dressed up as pilgrims...

Okay here is the real turkey!
The girls posing around the all-important bird.
Becky (second from right) is the one responsible for roasting it. Kudos to her!

Dewi and Song joining forces to cut up the turkey...

The feast!

The food was terrific. It was a pot-luck lunch, so we had dishes from all over the world. We had so much food there was not enough table space left! Yum yum... :P
