Meet Kopi...
They are guinea pigs, aka cavies. Aren't they cute? :)
Kopi is a boy and Hazel is a girl. But Hazel has been neutered so that we won't end up with a bunch of piggy babies. They are around three years old, which in human age is probably around 30s.
Kopi is a handsome looking pig, with a streak of white hair running across his head like mohawk style. He is very cautious pig, always checking that there is no danger before he leaves his pigloo, and strutting around the cage slowly. When we try to feed him his veggies, he sniffs it for a very long time, making sure it is not poisoned, before he takes a munch. He is just adorable!
Hazel is an adorable albino piggy, with a mushroom head haristyle. She is the more vocal pig of the two, and wheeks really loudly when she senses that food is coming! She is also the more gung-ho and adventurous one. (And she can be pretty bossy, and bullies Kopi sometimes by chasing him out of her Pigloo!)

We adopted this pair of bonded pigs from the EARPS in Indianapolis. (As we found out, it is more ethical to adopt than to buy pets, since buying them will encourage breeders to breed more pets under non-ideal situations.)
It was the Thanksgiving Sunday morning, and we drove one hour, with the help of our new GPS, to fetch the piggies. We met up with Sarah, who was the President of the EARPS, and she taught us how to clip nails for the pigs. Kopi was so scared that he was frozen stiff, but Hazel was just wheeking away, excited by all the action around her.
During the one hour ride back, I had the piggies in a Pet Taxi on my lap the whole time. They were very quite throughout the whole trip, snuggling at the back of the cage. I guess they must be pretty scared...
And when they arrived, we place them in their new home!

It is a cage that we made ourselves, called a C&C cage. It stands for Cubes and Coroplast, which are the two materials used to make the cage. We didn't mean to colour-coordinate everything, but somehow everything turned out to be blue.

Stay tuned for more piggy updates! (And photos!)
