The parts of the teapot include the body, the spout, the cap and the handle.
The cap and the spout were both thrown on the wheel, using a method called "throwing off the hump". Basically that means just using the top portion of the centred clay to make the spout/cap, and leaving the rest of the clay (i.e. the hump) untouched.
So I made two spouts and two caps. We were advised to always make two of each, just in case something happens to one of them... I thought a short little spout will be cute. (I just hope it is not too short!)
And I am praying very hard that the caps fit! We have to measure the width of the opening using a pair of callipers, and then make the caps to fit the exact measurements. As the clay is still very wet after throwing, I have yet to try to fit the cap onto the opening yet.
Next lesson, we are going to join the parts of the teapot together. I am excited! :)
