1. Petal Bib
Needle: US 6 / 4.0mm U-nitt straight bamboo needles
Yarn: Lily Sugar'n Cream, Robin's Egg Blue
Time to finish: 1 week
I knitted this for Baby Irwynn's one month old party... It is a fun and quick knit! But it did come out a tad bigger than I thought. Better to be too big than too small, I guess... :)
This is also the first time I tried to knit an I-cord! Not too difficult, but not easy to knit a nice tight one. Mine has a few loose stitches which made the I-cord look raw at some places...
After all the fun knitting up the bib, sewing in the ends was quite a pain... and mess... Okay, I shall aim to improve my workmanship by learning the art of sewing ends in without them falling out or being too obvious!
As for the yarn, the cotton "jams" up my knitting sometimes. I guess it is the nature of the yarn. But I like this Robin's Egg Blue a lot! Such a cute name for a cute colour...
2. Baby Bootees
Everyone says this is an easy pattern, but I tried to knit this three times before I finally got the hang of it...
Lesson learnt: Read instructions carefully!
Pattern: Saartje's Bootees by Saartje de Bruijn
Needles: US 2 / 2.75 mm U-nitt straight bamboo needles
Yarn: Dale of Norway/Dalegarn Baby Ull, Pink (4711 7328) and Red (4536 5061)
Time to complete: 1 month (had to go buy buttons to sew on...)
I knitted this for Jessica and Kelvin's baby girl... It is a really small pair! I reckon the baby will probably outgrow this within a month... but that is how it goes with baby clothes, I guess.
3. Cotton Hat

Pattern: Children's Cotton Hats by Kim Hamlin
Yarn: Dale of Norway/Dalegarn Baby Ull, Pink (4711 7328) and Red (4536 5061)

3. Cotton Hat
Pattern: Children's Cotton Hats by Kim Hamlin
: US 7 / 4.5 mm U-nitt bamboo dpns
Yarn: Sugar n Cream, Butter Cream Ombre
Time to complete: 1 week
I love variegated yarn! It is exciting to knit not knowing what colour is going to turn up next...
Knitting this hat is a breeze. The instructions said to use circular needles first, then change to dpns when the round becomes too small. But I started off with dpns straight away. I find it easier to knit with dpns, and I have not gotten the hang of circular needles yet. This will work fine for me for baby knits, but when I start to knit big, adult items, circular needles will become a must... Till then, I love my dpns!
The I-cord this time round is a bit neater. Perhaps because this is a two-stitch I-cord instead of the three-stitch I-cord for the bib. And perhaps also because this is the second time I am knitting an I- cord.
Ooh, I read somewhere that the I in I-cord stands for "idiot"... gosh... I wonder how that came about...
Anyway, this hat is for Djin and Gary's baby boy... :) I hope he likes it...

haha i didn't know that about i-cord!
I think with the shortest pair of circs - 16" for you I think - it would be easy to do the baby hat. Usually if you use circs, you need to use the correct length for the project.
However, having said that, I do agree that I find dpns nicer to use~~ I mean I will remain open to methods and give them a shot, but so far my circ socks aren't going very far :(
you're progressing very quickly and it's great! :)
wow!!!
so cute!!! you're fantastic! I can't imagine myself knitting anything. Seriously impressed u can actually knit booties!
Hehe, thanks for your encouragement!
Yeah, the circs I have are usually too long for baby stuff, and the ones I have tend to be inflexible, so cannot do the magic loop.
Good luck with your socks though! (I still have not cast on my second sock yet! Grr...)
