Yes, it is that time of the year again.

One year older? Yes.

One year wiser? Maybe.

Back in SG, we celebrate in small but meaningful ways. At work and at home, there is always the birthday cake, making wishes (I always have to think up one at the last minute) and blowing out the candles. It may seem old-fashioned, but it brings people together.

And then there is the meeting-up-with-old-friends-for-dinner. We usually hunt out new food places to try, and catch up with one another. Even though we have to work OT, for free. Even though we have to read journals after we get home that night to prepare for the next day. Even though we have been sleep-deprived ever since we started work. It is nice to carve out time for friends for a little gathering. (And of course, to bi**h about work...)

Now, far away from home, I get "none of the above". Or so I thought.

So it was really a pleasant surprise when I turned on my computer on the morning of my birthday, and have birthday wishes popping up on my screen via MSN.

And when I opened my gmail, I get birthday greetings from halfway across the globe!

Thanks everyone, for bombarding me that morning! :)

Being away from home, I most definitely did not expect a birthday cake.

Being in a food haven such as SG, I thought that I have tried and tested the yummiest cakes of the land. But this cheesecake shop tops all the other cheesecakes I have ever eaten! Now, why is this shop not in SG yet?

The Cheesecake Factory has over 20 varieties of cheesecakes, ranging from the traditional "Original Cheesecake", to funkier ones like "Adam's Peanut Butter Cup Fudge Ripple Cheesecake".

There were so many to choose from! I didn't know where to start! In the end we chose Tiramisu, Godiva Chocolate, White Macadamia Caramel and Kahlua Cocoa Coffee Cheesecake. They were all heavenly! MmmmMmmm...
