Car problem.... grrr...

Was driving back from pottery on Wednesday, and to my horror, I saw that one of the warning lights on the dashboard was lighted up in bright orange.

As soon as I parked the car, I rummaged through the glove compartment to take out the driver's manual and see what that meant.

Apparently, it is called the "check engine" light. The manual suggested that it could be a few things: water in the fuel tank; fuel cap not screwed tightly; poor quality fuel... The recommendation is to drive the car for three more times, and if the light is still on, we will have to bring it to the mechanic. The mechanic will then use a scanner to download the information from this thing called the ECM (electronic control module) in the car, which will give him clues as to what is wrong with the engine/car.

And so yesterday, I drove the car to pottery and back. And everytime I started the engine, I prayed that the light will magically go off. But it lighted up anyway.

Then, I will pray that the car will not stall when I am driving (which fortunately it did not).

So this morning, Shisheng brought it to the mechanic. There is something wrong with the car alright... something about "oxygen", but I am not really sure. And it is going to cost $300 to fix! Ouch...

It is days like these that raise my resolve that when I return to SG, I will not want to own a car. I will stick to our "world class" public transportation system anytime, thank you very much...
