(a) Sheep that got lost while on its way to Noah's Ark
(b) Baa Baa Black Sheep who bleached himself after watching MJ
(c) Sheep working as security guard for Millenium Park in Chicago
(d) Sheep mowing the lawn for Millenium Park in Chicago
Answer: (d)
I kid you not.
This is a lawnmower. Yes, in the shape of a sheep. Made of styrofoam. We saw this as part of the "WIRED NextFest" exhibition in Millenium Park. They have some uber-cool stuff!
Meet Keepon! So cute right... This benign-looking softie is designed by the Japanese (no surprises there) to interact with children, especially autistic kids. His eyes have cameras so that he can really "see" you. He reminds me of Beaker from the Muppets. (Meep Meep!)
This is a game called "Brainball". The aim of the game is to be more relaxed than your opponent. Here is how it goes: Two players sit on opposite side of the table and get wired up (see the black bands tied around the ladies' head?) and hence get their brainwaves measured (alpha and theta waves, to be exact). When the game starts, the metal ball at the center of the table will start moving towards the more kancheong fella. Loser is the one who gets the ball landed in the "base" (ya, the white circle) on his side.
We tried it. Fun game. Gosh, it is hard to stay calm when you see the ball rolling towards you...
If the colour scheme looks kinda familiar to you, that's because these are printer inks. Solid blocks of ink called, you guessed it, Solid Ink. By Xerox. Doubles up as Christmas tree ornaments.
WIRED NextFest is a really interesting exhibition. I am glad we stumbled upon it. It encompasses art, tech, science, and at times, humour.
My favourite is still Mower.
