Going home

"Ice Art" on our windows.
This is what happens when it is -16C outside -- you get ice on your windows. Inside.

We will be back in SG in about a week or so. It is quite a challenge to have just enough food to last us until Wednesday (the day that we leave). We don't dare to buy much when we go grocery shopping now. We are now low on rice and surviving on other carbos like noodles and pasta.

Preparing a meal with a near-empty fridge poses a challenge too. Many a times I find myself staring at the open fridge, waiting for inspiration or divine intervention.

Food-related-problems aside, we are pretty excited to go back. This is evident from the numerous times that SS claimed "Hmm... I can smell chicken rice leh... you sure you are not cooking chicken rice?"

As for me, I have started a list of things to do when I am back:

1. Book dental appointment
2. Book Basic Theory Test
3. Repair specs
4. Repair watch (funny how everything starts to fall apart just when I am about to go back to SG)

This is just the beginning. Of course there are other important things like spend time with family, and catch up with friends, but I decided not to put them on a list coz I can't strike them off. (I mean, you can't say, okay, I have spent enough time with my family *strike that off the list*)

Coincidentally, I have been reminded to do some self-reflection before the New Year begins by both a well-meaning friend and my dad, on the same day. Get my priorities readjusted... make and hopefully keep some New Year resolutions...

In the meantime, here's wishing everyone an exciting New Year's Eve, and a great 2009 ahead!

I had the same difficulty preparing meals with a near empty fridge last month! I ended up doing desperate things like using Asian-type veggies to prepare Western meals :) You must be so excited to come home. It's been so hot here so you guys will have to acclimatise fast! Was just informed by my dad that it was a high of 34 degrees Celcius yesterday.

Heh yeah... have to be creative and come up with fusion meals. :)

Right now it is -6C here... I can just imagine the blast of hot air as I step out of Changi airport... Hehe... I will try not to melt by seeking refuge in the air-conditioned shopping centers when I get back. :)
