Clapotis in progress

I started this project in February, and I am only halfway through.

It is much bigger than I expected! My biggest project so far. But I am having fun doing it. It can get quite repetitive at times, but that makes it a good project to do when I am watching TV.

This is a pattern from Knitty. Thanks gals for recommending this to me! It is a good knit for someone of my level. Not too challenging that I will have to pull my hair out once in a while, and not boring such I that I will lose my interest.

The fun part about this shawl is that you can drop stitches and create rows like these. My only complaint is that this yarn (Rowan Tapestry) splits very easily, and thus the dropped stitches don't fall off as easily. I actually have to "tear" some of the stitches apart at times. However, texture-wise, this yarn is absolutely smooshy and soft. Love it!

I did a little calculation. It takes me a little over an hour to do one repeat (12 rows). I still have five more repeats to go before I start decreasing. Then, pulling apart the dropped stitches takes about 15 mins. I took about 2 weeks when I did the increase, so the decrease should take about the same time. At this rate, and given that I don't make any mistakes and I don't need to frog anything, it should take me...

... quite a while more to finish this project.

Ah well, at least I am enjoying the process :)
