Unhappy foot

I sprained my left foot this week. I attribute it to my high heels.

And as if to say "serves-you-right", the ST ran an article on "Killer Heels" today.

"Be realistic. If you spend a lot of time in heels, expect to have problems in later life."

Well, no need to wait till later life. I am having problems right now.

I can't pinpoint the exact moment the injury occurred. (Okay, maybe it was when I ran after bus #268 in my heels ~ I kinda pride myself for being able to run fast in them.) It just starting hurting sometime on Wednesday, and on Friday, it got pretty swollen. That was when I thought I better do something about it.

I decided against seeing a GP for such ailments, coz I believe I will just get some painkillers for them. And being in my line of work and knowing how painkillers work sort of takes the magic (and any placebo effect) out of the medicine. I opted for the alternative(s). After two tui-na sessions (painful ones), a visit to a TCM physician, having my foot wrapped up with a brownish, cooling paste, and swallowing three (dubious-looking) capsules later, my foot still hurts. Maybe it looks a little less swollen than before, but I still walk with a limp. My faith in TCM has since wavered a bit.

I guess you can't hurry such things. Maybe all I can do is keep my foot rested and hope for the best.

And I need a pair of flats! Unless I am brave enough to flip-flop myself to work on Monday...

Sorry to hear about your painful foot. I had the TCM massage for a sprain before and it was like torture! Best to just take it easy and rest. Good thing it's raining today so good to just sleep in. See ya soon!
